J line unitrans
One piece of advice I have though is that if you frequently experience issues with bus reliability then I would encourage you to consider taking the bus that is 15 minutes earlier/later.
J line unitrans drivers#
Unitrans drivers and supervisors are trained extensively and would not skip stops and passengers on purpose if they knew there wouldn't be another bus there to collect them shortly. As mentioned before, this is ALWAYS at the instruction of the driver's supervisor. There may be other reasons for seeing these buses go intermittently out of service while completing a route around Davis. If this does happen and you live on a J/G/M/W type line, just know that the next bus should probably be there within 15 or so minutes. Luckily, this is rarely the cause for seeing buses as you have described so I wouldn't worry too much about it right now. This is rare but when it does happen those buses may have to become "Drop-off Only" until they can fit more passengers.
J line unitrans full#
Though this isn't the specific thing you mentioned, sometimes buses DO get too full to take on more passengers. It is actually an additional bus being added into service to help with overcrowding. The second bus that is helping them generally is NOT another J/G/M/W/etc. This allows the original bus to get back to campus much sooner for all of its passengers. To remedy this Unitrans uses separate buses that actually help out that bus and share the passenger load by alternating stops. Pulling into every single stop and spending time letting everyone on/off can really slow down a bus line especially if everyone is trying to get to/from campus at the same time. The first reason this may happen is that at certain times of the day Unitrans knows that certain lines will be heavily impacted (J/G/M/W/etc). Because of this, I wouldn't recommending reporting them because they are actually performing their job correctly. The westward area was utilized for archery practice, as evidenced by this Eastman's Originals Collection photo from 1957.So when this happens it could be for a few different reasons but drivers always do it under the directions from their supervisors.
